Munster Agricultural Society – Now that’s a plan !

On the 18th of June this year, our blog was about the cancellation of The Cork Summer Show due to the unprecedented rainfall of previous weeks. This of course meant the cancellation of the IKC All Breeds Open Dog Show due to be held on the final day of the 3 day event. The only light at the end of that very dark tunnel were the plans for the newly acquired venue going forward. Back then I did mention that the plans were extremely impressive, but that was before I got to see exactly what those plans were. After attending a meeting earlier this month, I can now say without doubt, that the plans outlined by The Munster Agricultural Society for this site at Curraheen, Co. Cork, are not only extremely impressive, but when completed, will mean that this venue in my opinion will be second to none in relation to hosting any event that concerns the promotion of canine / bovine or equine activities on the island of Ireland. Always look on the bright side of life

I think at this stage the world and his aunty are aware that The Cork Summer Show scheduled for the week end just gone had to be cancelled due to unprecedented rainfall over the last few weeks. According to Joan Blackburn last night on RTE's weather forecast, Cork was the wettest county for the month so far with over 4 times the average rainfall (Tell us something we don't know Joan !!!) You can imagine the disappointment of the event organisers, having to make this extremely difficult decision, after the months upon months of organising that goes into running an event like this. Being involved with the IKC open dog show, that was due to run on the final day of the show, I can empathise with the main event organisers in a small way. On behalf of the Cork Summer Show, organised by The Munster Agricultural Society, just a quick line to thank firstly, all you exhibitors for entering the show, we hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday at the event which was held in glorious sunshine. We would also like to thank our Judges for carrying out their appointed tasks in such a professional manner, and also to the stewards that kept the show running along so smoothly throughout the day. The Cork News – Pedigree Dogs featured

Today is the first day of the three day Cork Summer Show It seems you can't go anywhere in Cork and the surrounding areas without seeing some signage promoting and reminding people about this great event. The pictures that were taken at the official launch on Tuesday 07-06-11 have popped up everywhere, I even got an email from our Vet John Collins who is based with Richard Healy at Westside Veterinary, last Thursday saying that our dogs looked great in yesterdays Irish Independent !! Just a reminder that the online entry for the above show closes tomorrow Friday 10-06-11 at midnight with dogshowentry.ie This picture was taken at the official launch of the show on Tuesday, and gives you an idea of what to expect at the 3 day show that kicks off on Friday the 17th June. In relation to the IKC all breeds open show being held on Sunday 19th, as we have mentioned here before, there is a great prize fund on offer, (€200 Best in Show) and sponsorship from Arden Grange That as well as nearly 200 trade stands, cooking demonstrations by Kevin Dundon, highland games and much much more, sure you would be mad to miss it. This day week 10th June at midnight is the online closing deadline for the above show, that is being held on Sunday 19th June in Ballincollig Co.Cork A generous prize fund has been allocated by the organisers which is spread throughout all groups and Arden Grange are sponsoring, with bags of product being awarded to the major winners.
