Pampered Pooches & Frank Kane’s Hot Pants !

I like using old sayings when the need arises, and paper never refused ink sprung to mind when I read the following headline on the online version of a UK tabloid

“Nation’s biggest dog show sees 300 doggy divas in fancy dress and nail polish”

I think the Kennel Club / Crufts might have something to say in regards to the statement re the Nation’s biggest dog show, as with only 300 dogs in attendance, the event that the journalist is writing about, would just about match a good open show or even less than some individual breed club shows.

Anyhow, the event that was been reported on wasn’t a dog show that the majority of us would be used to, whereby anything up to 200 breeds are judged firstly by how they conform to the written breed standard, and then against each other, in breed classes, and later in groups , not too mention the agility and obedience classes.

No, this particular dog show called Diva Dog Day was held in order to find Britain’s most pampered pooch.

Now Mr Frank Kane, stated that there can be no greater privilege in the dog world than the honour of judging BIS at Crufts, but not to be outdone the organiser behind this dog show arrived dressed in hotpants in a crystal carriage carried by male models….Beat that Frank !!!

You see there is a massive difference between just owning a dog v loving your dog, but where do you draw the line when it comes to how much you love your dog ?

Obviously so called celebrities have a huge part to play in setting trends as they strut there stuff for the camera’s with their little pooch sticking it’s head out of the designer bag, and maybe that’s all Ok once the proper research went into deciding on a breed, and that the pup came from a reputable breeder, and that it’s basic requirements are met when it comes to exercise, grooming & veterinary care

But as always we’d love to hear your view on this trend that seems to be gathering momentum , whereby some owners are humanising their dogs to an extreme, dressing them up on a daily basis, dying their hair and painting their nails…

And finally, just so that you are in no doubt on which side of the fence I stand on this one, if I ever see Frank Kane judging at a dog show wearing Hot Pants, I think the time has finally come for me to find a new hobby !
