Previous Criteria;
All dogs between the ages of 6 and 18 months may compete for Best Junior in the Breed, and 8 such awards will qualify for the JD title.
Problem:
The above criteria posed problems in so much as many shows did not schedule all the Breeds, so exhibitors found it difficult to obtain the required points.
Unfortunately, the award was not monitored after its’ initial set up date and none of the above was taken into account.
SOLUTION AND PROPOSED AMENDMENT:
It is now proposed that all exhibits may compete at both Open/Ch. Shows for the Junior Diploma title providing that they are between 6 and 18 months on the day of the Show, and win a total of 12 Junior Diploma points in the following manner.
OPEN SHOWS:
1. They are places 1st in any class, whether for their Breed (if scheduled) or in any other class within their Group i.e. A.V. Toy, or any mixed Breed class within their Group at Open Show level (only 1 class win per show gaining 1 point)
A bonus 2 points will be awarded if the exhibit wins its Relevant Group on 1 occasion.
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS:
2. 2 CLASS WINS AT Ch. Shows under 18 months must also be attained each class win gains 2 points.
All awards must be signed by the Judge/s on the day, giving details of the Show and Class/Group won.
NOTE: Only 1 class win (1 point Open Show/2 Points Ch. Show) and 1 Open Show
Group win (2 points) per Show counts in total. (Multiple wins at 1 show will not count).
The Junior Diploma Award Book may be obtained from the I.K.C. at a nominal cost. However, it would be preferable if all Show secretaries running Shows held a small stock of these books for the Exhibitors on the day of the Show.
It would also be proposed to monitor the Award on a yearly basis for the foreseeable future, and to amend the qualifying points if required.
