Does the Club host any open or championship dog shows or breed seminars: 

The Association hosts an IKC Breed Championship Show annually. This year it is on May 27th at Naas Racecourse. We also carry out regular social walks (4 a Year Country wide) in conjunction with the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ireland. We produce a Calendar for Members to Showcase their Dogs and to distribute to their Friends and Families.

What advice would you offer to anybody that is interested in becoming an owner of the breed: 

We offer advice to would be owners via our Website and directly from our various members who are custodians of the Breed. We always welcome new members and are fully inclusive for Pet owners and show people alike so get in touch if you want to share your experience of your Great Dane with ours.

Does the breed have any specific health tests that should be done before a Dog or Bitch is used at stud or bred from:

Our Members carry out various Health tests, Primarily DCM (full tests available from Southview Veterinary)Hip Dysplacia, Elbow, Dysplacia, even though they would not be common issues in Danes, some members also carry our spondylosis checks.
