One Vision

Over twenty-five animal welfare groups and other organisations have made a united call urging the Government to progress three key pieces of animal welfare legislation.

The above is the outcome of the National Animal Welfare Forum that was held in Dublin on Sunday 22-05-11

25 groups, is only a drop in the ocean in regards the charities, organisations, and groups that have established themselves in Ireland, all in the hope of improving animal welfare.

I came across the following quotation the other day, and it got me thinking – ” We must all hang together, or assuredly, we shall all hang separately ” Benjamin Franklin

If there was only one organisation with the sole responsibility to improve on the current situation, would that make for a more streamlined service, and give a bigger voice to our concerns ?

All the current groups must be singing from the same hymn sheet, and have the welfare of animals at the core. In fairness, most get along with each other, but if they all pooled together, and pushed behind one common cause, I’m sure the media and then the general public would take more notice.

Now I’m not big into reading newspapers etc, but was wondering what amount of press coverage the above forum received ? I just googled National Animal Welfare Forum, and the results returned by my search engine were all from people that attended etc.

Consolidation is happening in all walks of life in the current economic crisis, as small entities find it nearly impossible to carry on in their own field.

What’s your view on the same ?
