BULL BREED ALL BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW OCTOBER 25TH 2010

Yesterday we had Bull Breeds show which is the third last Championship show of the 2010. It drew a very respectable entry of just under 1500 dogs. The committee headed by Johnny and Colette Muldoon had set the show up very well, using rings both inside and outside.

The weather started a bit chilly in Cloghran, but soon brightened up to a lovely Autumn day, so exhibitors were very happy to be exhibiting outside. The outside rings were mainly for the bigger breeds so gave ample space for judge to see movement.

German Shepherds drew an excellent entry of 43 dogs for Breed Specialist Mrs H Gleason from the US . BOB and his 7th Green Star, so also becoming a Champion on the day, was awarded to the German bred Barak Von Hamilberg Schhi Kkli owned by Neil Lawlor and Keith Fitzpatrick .

But the day was to get even better for this dog, not yet 2 years old and exceptionally well handled by Richard Stapelton, as Mrs Gleason could find nothing in Group 1 to beat him, so again he was awarded the big rosette.

There was another German Shepherd judge judging Best in Show, so the owners of Barak must have really had their fingers crossed would Mrs Mary Wendland give her own breed the major title of the day. To a huge roar of approval from the many GSD exhibitors who stayed for the BIS Mrs Wendalnd walked over to Barak and Richard with the huge BIS rosette.

Into second place Mrs Wendland called another young male the Group 7 winner the Irish Setter Gwendariff Whata Corker, handled buy Diane Richie-Steward and owned in partnership with Diane’s husband Alec and Cathy Neill. This was Elvis’s 6th Green Star.

Into 3rd place Mrs Wendland called the Group 10 winner the Irish Wolfhound Ch Donovan of Nutstown owned by John and Kathleen Kelly and handled by Frank Berry.

And the 4th place rosette was awarded to the Group 5 winner, the Japanese Shiba Inu Japanese Shiba Inu Ir/GB Ch Jiltrain Jack The Lad. Sadly the breeder/owner of Jack the Lad, Mrs Jill Rodgers, sadly passed away in September. Jill was so proud of all Jacks achievements including winning BOB at the World Show 2008. So yesterday’s big win for Jack the Lad must have pulled on the heart strings of many of Jill’s friends who were ring side.
