Kennel Club (London) appoints new chairman
Steve Dean has been elected the new chairman of the Kennel Club (London)
After his election he stated, “I am honoured to be elected as chairman of the KC and to be given the opportunity to help improve the lives of dogs by ensuring that they live healthily and happily with responsible owners”
In the past he was in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, and has been a practising vet, a veterinary radiologist and lecturer in anatomy at the Royal Veterinary College. He cites his other interests at clinical parasitology, immunology and genetic diseases.
Surely with this experience you would imagine that the health of pedigree dogs will always be to the fore, which can only be a good thing.
Let’s hope so as recently the BBC commissioned Jemima Harrison to make a follow-up film to Pedigree Dogs Exposed, with the main purpose to see what impact the initial film actually made, and to see what progress if any has been made in addressing conformation and genetic issues.
I for one think that significant progress has been made, and even Jemima admits the same after her visit to this years Crufts, but also states that certain breeds still have a long way to go.
We certainly wish Steve Dean all the best re his new position, and that he can push on re the work done to date, ensuring healthy, happy, pedigree dogs well into the future.
